How to Remove Avast Antivirus Using the Uninstall Utility in Safe Mode

If you want to properly remove Avast antivirus from your system, follow these steps:

Download the Avast Uninstall Utility (avastclear.exe) using the download button above or here and save it to your Windows desktop
Consider disconnecting your computer from the Internet to avoid any risk as you will be without the Avast protection during and after its removal
Boot into Safe Mode of your Windows – you can do this a) manually by restarting your computer and pressing F8 before the Windows logo appears, then just select ‘Safe Mode’ or b) run the downloaded avastclear.exe and click on ‘Yes’ to restart the computer and boot into Safe Mode
When if Safe Mode, run the avastclear.exe and select the Avast product you want to uninstall

Open your Avast and go to ‘Settings‘ » ‘Troubleshooting‘ » un-check ‘Enable Avast self-defense module‘
Turn off your Avast by going to systray, right-click on the Avast icon and go to ‘Avast shields control’ » ‘Disable for 1 hour’
Run the avastclear.exe file and select the Avast product you want to uninstall
After successful removal restart your computer
